These lad(ie)s were great fun to draw even though all the photos of them are so high-contrast that you can only really distinguish them from each other by their hair.
For some reason their steeds turned into Meine Kleine Ponys. This is 100% appropriate because they look like real-life versions of girls from that caroon Jem. Only these girls are in that Other Band, the band Jem had a Blur/Oasis relationship with.
Doing a series of illustrations of NDW “girlbands” from the 80s cos yeh why not.
Some of them may bear scarce resemblance to their subjects so let’s say this is a Series of Illustrations Inspired By the Frauen of 1980s German Postpunk, I Am That Pretentious.
The composition/presentation of the subject matter is all vaguely influenced/inspired by medieval woodcuts & drawings cos that’s fierce Germanic altogether isntit.

Been doing a few more illustrations for Siren and thought I’d throw them up here. First one’s about That Thing The Minister Said that implied making women quit their jobs if their childcare costs were too high, second one is about THAT TIME THE POPE WASHED A MUSLIM GIRL’S FEET OH MY GOD and then the third one is about how stupid, harmful & reactionary diets are.
First one is also a fairly barefaced shameless cheeky homage to Doaa El Adl who is glorious
About a year ago I did a few illustrations for a magazine published by some Trinity College Dublin students on International Women’s Day 2012. That magazine was Siren. They launched online a few days ago and my portraits of Irish Wimmin Politicians are all over the gaff
